Kenya Premier League side Tusker FC has been confirmed as the replacement for Sudan's El Merriekh SC in the 2026 CECAFA Kagame Cup after the Sudanese club withdrew from the competition.
El Merriekh SC cited challenges related to the delayed conclusion of their domestic league season as the reason for pulling out of the regional tournament.
CECAFA Competitions Manager Yusuf Mossi welcomed Tusker FC's inclusion, noting that the Kenyan side will also represent the country in the 2026/27 TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup.
Following Friday's official draw held at the Amahoro National Stadium in Kigali, Rwanda, Tusker FC was placed in Group C alongside Sudan's Al Hilal SC, Rwanda's Rayon Sports, and Zanzibar's KVZ FC.
The 2026 CECAFA Kagame Cup will be held in Kigali from July 24 to August 7, bringing together 12 clubs from across the CECAFA region to compete for the regional title.
